Here at LiveTribe our forums are a place for lively discussions across an array of topics from “who should be the next James Bond” to “should indigenous Australians be recognised”. Our members join in these discussions with tidbits of knowledge, hilarious commentary, and memorable one-liners. So, we have collated a few of our favourites – what are yours?

  • (Should sharks be culled?) “Sharks have been around for at least 100 million years, humans have only been around for about 100 thousand years (humans like US even less). So who’s environment is it?” – Gilgamesh

  • (Are Australians Racist?) “Many of the comments here are a case in point that there is a lot of racism in Australia. Comments like ‘if you don’t like it here, go back to where you came from’ and other comments about people from x ‘not integrating’ are all showing that these people feel a sense of outsiders coming here being less than them. They seem to think the luck of being born here makes them more entitled and therefore ok to be racist toward ‘outsiders’ (when in fact we are nearly all immigrants compared to our First Nations’ Peoples).” – Blissliss

  • (Is the future screenless?)“The idea of NO screens is outside my realm of sensibility. How can there be no screens at all? I don’t think screens will ever be obsolete.” – Marli

  • (My health Record: Will you opt out?) “I have no confidence whatsoever when they say my records will be safely stored in “cyberspace” as though that is some spot in the ether that only God can access rather than a massive server in a basement somewhere – probably in Silicon Valley.” – Windog

  • (Should indigenous Australians be recognised)“Can’t believe in this day and age we are still having this debate. Surely we have progressed enough as a society that this should not even be an issue. When will this issue be settled once and for all – the constitution should, of course, be changed to reflect the fact that Indigenous Australians be recognised as this country’s first people? What are we waiting for?” – Marie

  • (Has the #metoo movement gone too far?) “I am very ambivalent about this whole issue. Many times when women go to the police, their reports are not taken seriously or their own reputation and past behaviour is called in to question so that the victim ends up feeling she has somehow contributed to the situation she is presently in.”

  • (Should the government do more to tackle the obesity epidemic?) “Definitely! This would help to cut down the consumption of sugar. Our health bill is skyrocketing, and it will only increase if we fail to act now. Diabetes is a terrible disease often causing amputation of limbs and ultimately death. This should scare us all into immediate action.”
