Would You Fly On NSW’s First Fully Accessible Hot Air Balloon?

The first fully accessible hot air balloon in NSW takes to the sky above the Hunter Valley vineyards. The balloon's basket was designed by Australian manufacturer Kavanagh Balloons, with funding help from the NSW government and Cessnock City Council. It includes bench seating with variable height and cushioning features, a custom access gate, and adjustable harnesses. A Vietnam veteran and Maitland local who became a quadriplegic after a motorcycle accident in northern NSW in 2011, was the first official flyer. Words can’t describe the silence up there, and the enormity of the view. What do you think LiveTribers? Would you fly on NSW’s first fully accessible hot air balloon?

nice idea for a one off experience but we have invented aero planes to travel long distances by air quickly and importantly cheaply.......................I say lets not regress

A wonderful opportunity for those with a disability. As for me, no way, I don't like heights and wouldn't feel safe.

I don't think I would do it but it's wonderful that quadriplegic people are able to access something that would have previously been impossible.

Absolutely. I have flown in a hot air balloon in Turkey and in WA. Both times were awesome - strangely for those who have a fear of heights, you don’t feel it in a balloon.

I’d do it if it wasn’t too expensive. Cost for me is always a factor.

I do not enjoy flying in an aeroplane so in a wicker basket is way beyond my comfort zone so definitely no.

For sure, I've been up in one before cruising above the Yarra Valley in Victoria, it was exhilarating, the landing was a little rough but I'd do it again.

I don't even like flying on planes, so I can't see myself going anywhere in a hot air balloon.
