Why Are So Many Western Australian Police Resigning?

The WA Police Union says a "disturbing" lack of empathy from senior executives in the police force has caused hundreds of officers to quit over the past year. More than 300 officers have left the WA Police since July last year, with senior constables making up the biggest proportion of resignations. The number of staff leaving the force was a worrying statistic, according to the union, despite adding 570 recruits since March last year. A union survey of recently resigned staff showed 77 per cent had quit because of poor work culture and dissatisfaction with WA Police management. What are your thoughts LiveTribers? Why are so many Western Australia police resigning?

I think it’s just a tough gig in general dealing with all the riff raft that’s out there. I think it’s hard to make friends outside of the force too, are people are generally wary of cops

I can understand that police would want to exit the police force. Due to long hours a big pressure load, trying to make the most of a trying profession. Living up to standards with police corruption is enough to put anyone off joining. The training would be hard, I thought once when I was young about joining up but put a stop to it.

It's a hard enough job with the support of the bosses.

Greener grass on the other side of the fence is the most probable reason. Look at the State budget a massive surplus. Able to cope with inflation and increasing interest rates why not move on if not happy in current situation.

Living on the East Coast I hadn't heard about police resignations in WA. Could it have anything to do with the Premier?
