Are Chatbots A Threat To Fine Dining?

Artificial intelligence could take personalized service to a new, possibly sinister level, but can it really replace a chef? In the world of ultra-fine dining, service must run like clockwork. It’s time-consuming work to pay such attention to detail, and early promoters of artificial intelligence (AI) say that software could automize the most tedious parts of the job. What are your thoughts LiveTribers? Are chatbots a threat to fine dining?

I do not see chatbots being a threat at these early stages just yet.

Not at all, they cannot cook. Plus those who develop AI seem focused on things that are a bit useless, like ChatGPT - I still don't get the hype. Chatbots might be a bit of a threat to our brains, and a massive source of frustration when they don't answer your actual question, but chefs will always be in business.

No, only low level tasks will be affected, but you will never be able to replace a star chef.

I have been to an upmarket restaurant in Darling Harbour that has a robot waiter. It delivers food to your table and carries the dirty dishes back to the kitchen. I guess it allows human waiters to provide a more attentive service. I don't know if it's good or bad.

Don’t see this happening. Human interaction is what you expect and pay for with fine dining. I doubt people would pay for AI service

I don't think that chatbots are a threat to fine dining because they are an interactive computer program and can't cook or serve food.

I doubt it but in this ever changing world anything is possible.

No, I don't think so. Can't see how they could replace a chef.

AI technology is growing exponentially, reaching critical mass like a nuclear bomb, and then will destroy everything around us.

AI in general is a hyped up marketing ploy by the tech sector to make even more money from our human laziness and stupidity!!!

A chatbot is just a computer program designed to simulate conversation with humans, I don't see how it can replace a chef, plate a meal, or serve the meal to customers. Nothing it does will ever make one a threat to fine dining.

They are a threat to human life. These tech people need to be stopped before it all goes too far.
