Would You Open Up To A Chatbot Therapist?

Would you share your deepest anxiety with Alexa? Or maybe ask Siri for some emotional support after a particularly stressful and eventful day? We are increasingly turning to chatbots on smart speakers or websites and apps to answer questions. And as these systems, powered by artificial intelligence (AI) software, become ever more sophisticated, they are starting to provide pretty decent, detailed answers. But will such chatbots ever be human-like enough to become useful and effective therapists? What are your thoughts LiveTribers? Would you open up to a chatbot therapist?

Haha I hope I'm never that desperate! No thanks! You are better off just reading a self help book.

Never. I dont want to talk to a robot about anything especially any problems I have. Are we supposed to believe an AI chatbox, robot, whatever could possibly solve our emotional problems? If thats what the world is coming too I think it would be a bit scary.

I'd rather talk my problems out with my dog or cat! I've tried the bots on a couple of websites and all they give is standard, pre-programmed info and rarely relevant. At least my dog wags her tail and makes me feel better :)

No way! The less they know about me the better. I use Google to ask basic things like what the weather outlook is but that's about it.

No but really its like opening up to a stranger and then they tell you they don't care. Robot response

No way. I have never used one yet that I found of any use so there is no way I would trust one to help me with a serious issue.

No way might as well talk to a brick wall as it has the same level of emotion.

Nope. How can a robot empathise with you.
