Would You Change Your Faith/Religion For Love?

When songstress Josiane Uwineza, commonly known as Miss Jojo, announced that she was converting from Christianity to Islam, most of her fans were shocked. At that time, Miss Jojo had just got engaged and was living with her fiancé. Born and raised in a Christian family, Miss Jojo changed her first name to Iman and proceeded to pull out of the Primus Guma Guma Superstar music competition because it “was against her new religious beliefs.” What are your thoughts LiveTribers? Would you change your faith/religion for love?

Changing religion is fine if you truly believe in what you are changing to but definitely not if you are only changing for someone else, their family etc. I'd ask the question, 'Would I stay with this religion if I was no longer with my partner?'

Some do &/or have in the past. A better understanding of looking further into it, then you'll know otherwise. What does one want when viewing religion itself, whether love or otherwise?

Doubt I would do this and I do hope she doesn't live to regret it either.

I would never change to Islam, a mysonginistic, patriarchal, vengeful, cruel and totally uncompromising joke of a religion. If she decides to return to Christianity she will be dishonoured and a death Fatwah will be descended upon her. She will be murdered. Don't believe me.....ask ANY honest Imam!

Only if I fully understood and believed in the practices and basis of the religion and it aligned with my beliefs.

I would not change my beliefs for anyone, but then I was raised by 2 excommunicated parents. One Catholic and the other Presbyterian, believe you me it's not good to be stuck between divided families with strong beliefs.

Does that not mean that the other person does not truly love you for who you are but who they want you to be? Is that really love if it has to be so one sided. Why did the other person not change his religion so she could live out her dreams and beliefs? Anyway it's their business no need to make a song and dance about it, good luck to them.

No but then I am not religeous. It is her decision and no one else really has the right to comment in my opinion.

No I wouldn't. It is fine for people in a relationship to have and practice different religious beliefs. I don't see a change as necessary at all as we accept everything about the person we love. My husband is Catholic and I am atheist and we have no issues around religion having been together 30 years.
