Why Have Australian Desserts Turned Bright Purple?

A triple-serve of ube at “Pecks Road Cheat Meals” in outer Melbourne, the ube doughnut comes with an ube glaze, ube pastry-cream and ube whipped cream – which has long been a fixture of Filipino desserts and pastries. But a new generation of hospitality operators in Australia are expanding the purple reign. Filipinos have long had a love affair with ube, but it’s only recently the rest of the world is catching on to the allure of the vivid purple yam. What do you think LiveTribers? Why have Australian desserts turned bright purple?

This is the first time I've ever heard of it. I don't eat desserts or done out very often anyway so I may never come across it.

I have no idea about purple desserts. Does it have lavender in it......perhaps in icecream or added to the cream cheese topping on carrot cake. I know you get get purple beans that change to green when purple carrots but I have never grown or bought them

All nutritionists are advising everyone to eat more colourful vegetables for health reasons, so why wouldn't the Filipino's get in on the latest thing to boost their sales as well?
