Dogs most certainly recognize and remember their owners, even after long absences. This can be attributed to numerous factors, but they mainly rely on their sense of smell. So even if your face were to change, your dog would still remember you just based on the way you smell. What are your thoughts LiveTribers, how well do dogs remember their owners?

They are very intelligent creatures.
Experts say it takes a trivial 70 seconds for your dog to forget what just happened. But while their short-term memory could maybe use some improving, their long-term memory is impressive, to say the least. Dogs most certainly recognize and remember their owners, even after long absences.
If the Dog has Been Loved & Cherished & Extremely Well Looked After then it's Impossible for it to Forget it's Owner
Dog's remember they're owners ,definately threw the food,though I occasionally feed a friends dogs,&when he gets back they ignore my commands completely
Seemingly the intelligent mutts do..... but the boofheads often do not! Is this an important topic or are you a fan of Dr Doolittle!?
I have seen dogs years apart and always get greeted like a long lost friend. It is wonderful. On the flip side, I know of dogs ill treated and they never forget that person. They are beautiful intelligent animals other than a few species that have been bread for wrong reasons and are dangerous.
