Does The Aboriginal Embassy Still Remain A Powerful Beacon Of Protest?

Fifty years ago, four men travelled to Australia's capital and set up a beach umbrella with a sign marked "Aboriginal embassy". Their protest grew rapidly to thrust Aboriginal activism into wider public attention. Today, the Aboriginal Tent Embassy still remains a powerful symbol of protest in Canberra. What are your thoughts LiveTribers, does the Aboriginal Embassy still remain a powerful beacon of protest?

No. It never has influenced the Government's view on Aborigines, First Nations or anyone else. The embassy is there just to placate some vocal people.

No..... never did.... Indigenous Leaders in all communities have failed to increase school attendance, failed to address sustance abuse and tragically failed to address family violence and child sexual abuse. So in my view the Aboriginal Embassy is a feel good underachieving embarrassment to ALL Australians!

No after 50 years it has done the job. Time to go through the normal channels not involving protests but constructive dialogue.
