But first we need to know why we procrastinate. There are so many reasons that differ according to the person but here’s just a few:

  • Self-confidence: We are either too confident that we can complete the task in the short amount of time or we have low self-confidence that we try to avoid the situation altogether.
  • No structure: We don’t know where to begin and have no structure to our task which leads to no direction. We can feel overwhelmed and easily distracted, leading to other things such as scrolling through social media or watching TV.
  • We are just lazy: Sometimes we are just too lazy! It happens to the best of us, laziness can often get in the way of getting tasks completed, especially boring ones!

Reverse Procrastination

We know that overcoming procrastination can be difficult and we don’t blame you – because we all do it! So here are a few easy tips you can do to overcome procrastination:

  • Remind yourself that there’s always more that can be done.
  • Make a to do list and set deadlines. This can be annoying but just jotting a few notes on your phone can help you get things done quicker!
  • Break the tasks down so you’re not overwhelmed. Once you accomplish a few you’ll be more likely to keep going.
  • Eliminate temptation. Whether that’s your phone or even your friend! Get your friend to hide with your phone.
