hay fever

Spring is finally here! Which means saying good bye to all your warm sweaters, scarves and warm drinks and hello to days at the pool, picnics and fun in the sun! Although Spring is filled with beautiful floral, unfortunately there is one thing that most of us hate about Spring – Hay Fever! It’s the season of sniffily noses, running eyes and none of us like it! But do not fear, on today’s blog we share 4 ways to prevent hay fever!

Avoid hanging clothes outside

Pollen can easily stick to your clothes and sheets. Although it can be tempting to dry your clothes outside in the sunny weather, doing this will encourage pollen to stick to them.

Shower after a day outside

During the day pollen will stick to your clothes, invade your eyes, stick to your nasal passages and infest your hair. Taking a quick shower at the end of the day will help eliminate the pollen clinging to your skin and hair and minimise your reaction.

Rub Vaseline on nostrils to avoid pollen reaching nasal passages

Although this may seem odd, this method can actually help stop pollen spores entering your nasal passage thus preventing a reaction.

Keep your windows shut

Keeping your windows open increases the pollen count within your environment. Although it can be tempting to want fresh air, keeping your windows shut, especially during the night keeps the pollen out of the house.

Hay fever is highly common, if your symptoms continue and seem to get worse, it’s best check with your local doctor/pharmacists. So, stay safe and healthy this Spring LiveTribers!
